Annie's 4 month checkup

Annabelle had her well visit today, she is doing very well. She got her vaccines and when I picked her up she calmed right down. Then the nurse turned to her to tell her she was sorry and Annie let out this mad yell at the nurse. I had to laugh. Maddie was very curious through the whole thing......I'm gonna have to watch her that she doesn't 'practice' doctor on Annie later- lol!

Annie's head is doing well. We were a little worried with the first head circumference measurement because it was smaller than last month's measurement. But after we re-did the measurement, it was right on track and everything is good. The left side of the head is a little more flat than the right side, but I just think the MD might be over analyzing it now. The front sutures are less rigid, but the back sutures are still fairly prominent. I'm not worried, but the MD wants to recheck in a month.

Annie is in the 58th percentile in weight at 14lbs. 5oz. and in the 69th percentile in height at 25inches. I really don't know where we get tall kids from, considering that Jake and I are fairly average in height. But I'm not complaining......we'll have someone around to reach the tall cabinets for us then- lol!

I was a little worried about Annie pooping only once every 48hrs; but the MD said that was fine, that she had a pt who only pooped once a week. (wow! now that's some slow metabolism!)

I also learned that they now do not give Tylenol with vaccines because new research shows that Tylenol can make the vaccines less effective. I personally think that is baloney, so I gave Annie Tylenol as soon as we got home.

Well, I'll post more later on our Halloween week activities. But everything is going well, and Maddie has learned some important lessons on waiting in line, and only getting one thing from the candy bucket.

Fall Fun

So last week Jake, Maddie, Annie and I went to a Pumpkin Patch. It was a lot of fun (and muddy,) but mostly fun. We got to feed the sheep and goats, which had surprisingly learned to be aggressive about getting the food. Maddie loved seeing the chickens and cow. We also got to go on a hay ride, which was a lot of fun too.

Madelynn, trying to express her independence, had to carry her own pumpkin all the way back to the car. Needless to say, it was a little bruised by the time we got it home.

It's getting harder to go jogging with the girls, but they are real troopers about it.

On a side note, blue elephant lasted about half way around the block before mommy had to carry him the rest of the way. That day was more walking than running......but we all have to start somewhere ;)

Jake's sister Beth got married on Saturday. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Barry McCain!!! The wedding was fantastic! Beth looked gorgeous, and Barry cleans up pretty well himself ;) The reception was held at the La Cima Club in Las Colinas with breathtaking veiws of Las Colinas, Ft. Worth skyline and Dallas skyline. Jake and I had a wonderful time! My pics are pretty dark and don't do the bride and groom justice at all.....

Rachel and Ian came to visit while in town and Grandpa Wells stopped by as well. We really enjoyed having them.

I can't wait to post pics of Halloween. Maddie is going to be a fairy and I have alot of activities planned this week for fun. So stay tuned...... ;)

*crickets chirping*

Well, not much has been happening around here....but I thought I should post something.....

Madelynn is talking so well now. I can finally hold a real conversation with her! I'll ask her about her day when I get home from work and she can tell me about it (with minimal prompting from Dad.) She sang the whole alphabet (when she thought I wasn't listening) and can count to 10. She knows all her colors and majority of her shapes. We are working on the sounds the letters make in school now. She really likes Leap Frog's Letter Factory and I really think that helps alot.

Annabelle is rolling really well from stomach to back (she never stays on her stomach now.) And she is cooing all the time. I think we have quite the talker....or maybe singer- sometimes it sounds just like singing. She is definitely a thumb sucker, but overall a very content baby. She loves to laugh and is very ticklish.

Jake and I are doing well. We are in the middle of spring cleaning now. I think I finally did it- I have more maternity clothes than regular clothes- lol! Oh well, I guess I have an excuse to go shopping! I think I'm going to finally get rid of all my prom/dance dresses and bridesmaid dresses. Why is it so hard to let go of those? Maybe because I spent so much money on them, or I keep thinking I'll one day have the occasion to wear them again..... Oh well, out they go! I saw the Oprah show on hoarders yesterday, and it spurred me on. *shudder* I will never let my things build like that (famous last words.)

Well, that's about it for now......I guess I did have some things to say afterall! ;P

ps, I realized that I'm one of those people who use smiley faces way too much in my typing.....but I'm OK with that. ;P

Madelynn's Checkup

Well, Maddie is tall and skinny still. She's 86% in height at 35 1/2 inches and 38% in weight at 26lbs. I don't know how she's grown at all since she won't eat hardly anything. But hopefully it's just the stage she's in right now.
Annie got her head checked again too. The thought is that the skull sutures are just overlapped and not fused, which is good. As long as her head continues growing and continues being a good shape, then no worries.
It's colder here now. Madelynn is definitely a summer girl. Annie and I do fine without jackets, but Maddie has to have her jacket before going out.....or maybe she just really likes to accessorize....
Well, so far both girls have gotten over their colds for now. I'm really just waiting for the next one to strike. Every kid I know is coming down with something; it's going to be a hard winter. Tylenol and Kleenex is really going to get rich this year, maybe I should buy stock....hmmm.....

New Direction in Life

I don't know if it's because my cousin Jessica passed away so suddenly or that I've been bored with work lately, or perhaps a combination of the two; however, I've decided to try to mark some things off my life's to-do list. I've quit all my groups and associations I'm involved in at work and am focusing completely on my home and family. Life is too short to continue putting things on the back burner. One day that back burner won't be there, and I don't want to be stuck with a 'coulda, shoulda, woulda' list.
So one thing on my list, is I've always wanted to run in a marathon. I bought a double jogger yesterday and am going to start running (this one may take a couple of years-lol). Next I have a list of inventions that I've thought of, and I want to start making progress on them. I'll start with getting a patent on them, then go from there. I'm looking at mommy and me classes for Maddie (then Annie when she's older.) Just so we can have special time together without any interruptions. I'm also thinking of starting some home health work. Just like 2 or 3 clients in the evenings. I've always thought I'd be good at it and thought I'd like it. For some reason, that one is the hardest for me to get started on....not sure why. Probably, because it takes the largest committment.
Unfortunately my list is longer than the things listed here; but this is a good start. I really want to encourage everyone to look at their lives too and remember to live every day to the fullest and let everyone know how much you love them.....you never know what the future may hold.

I suck at complements

I've have realized a few things about myself as I get older (just a few-lol!) One thing is that I suck at complements. Giving complements and receiving them. It became really obvious this weekend.
I have a friend from work who lost alot of weight recently. She looks great! I was telling her how skinny she looks and that she has a small butt. Since being pregnant, I have a large butt now so I'm really jealous of her butt. However, she is really self conscious of her butt and thinks she has no butt. So I accidently criticized her butt. I'm really sorry (she knows who she is). I meant to say you looked really great and should have left it at that.
I also sucked at telling my other friend how great she is looking also. All my clothes are really tight on me right now and I really wished I had clothes that were loose like I used to. I told her that she lost so much weight that her clothes hang on her and she needs a new wardrobe. I didn't mean to criticize her clothes, I meant to give her a complement that all her hard work is paying off. She looks great and I wish I was as small as she is.
I guess I learned a valuable lesson that I need to just leave complements as short and sweet instead of trying to tell people what I wish would be said to me. I wish I had no butt and I wish my clothes were loose on me instead of so tight all the time. So sorry to my 2 friends- I know ya'll worked really hard to lose all the weight, and it really shows. Ya'll look wonderful! The End

Birthdays Galoore

So my birthday is coming up. It's funny how the older I get the more I want to stay home instead of going out. Some work friends are taking me out on Sunday, but on my actual birthday (Thursday) Jake and I are going to put together bookcases and put up the new TV while Grandma watches the girls. I'm actually looking forward to Thursday with Jake more than going out with the girls. It's not that I don't enjoy going out sometimes, I do! It's great to get out of the house and have a change of scenery sometimes. I just find myself becoming more of a homebody as I get older. Pizza and a project is more fun....I might even get to start a new puzzle! ;P It's getting harder and harder to care about getting fixed up, shaving (ugh), find something nice that will fit (I might have to go shopping)........It's just too much work now...... Maybe when I lose some weight and the kids are older then I'll enjoy these things again......maybe.......
Maddie's birthday is coming up too! It'll be fun to decorate the house for it (and it's great that it's forcing us to finish some projects to prepare for it) ;) Why as they get older, their presents get more expensive- lol! A water bottle just doesn't cut it anymore......
Well, better start cleaning the house. I've hit that point where I have to clean the bathrooms now to have it ready for the party- but I couldn't do it earlier because then I'd have to do it again before the party....lol! The trials and tribulations of cleaning the house, hahaha!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot! Annie is doing great too, she is laughing (well, more of a chuckle) more and she is rolling from front to back. She loves for people to talk to her- very sociable. She just keeps getting bigger by the minute- too fast! ;(
